Who are pedophiles?

Mexico City passed a law that guarantees equal rights for its homosexual citizens to heterosexuals, including the right to adoption. The Catholic Church of Mexico, through its representatives, spoke out against the law, alleging that homosexuals want to adopt children to sexually abuse them, also using them for child pornography and prostitution. It would be comical if it were not tragic!

I would recommend the representatives of the Catholic Church in Mexico to wash their mouths or shut them up when talking about homosexuals in this way! I would also recommend reading the book "Fallen Order", by Karen Liebreich, PhD in History from the University of Cambridge. The study is a long historiographical research into pedophile abuse committed by European clergy. Dating back to the 1050th century, Karen reveals to us, among other things, that in the year XNUMX, Pedro Damian, now a saint, wrote a report to Pope Leo IX on child sexual abuse, accusing the hierarchical superiors of child-abusing priests of connivance and partnership in guilt. Result: Pope Leo IX hushed up St. Peter Damian's report.

"Hushing up the case" when it comes to them, and then, with fingers raised, accusing homosexuals of being perpetrators of pedophilia is, since the 11th century, what some Roman prelates have done.

Karen also tells us another case: in the 17th century, child sexual abuse was practiced on a daily basis by priests of the "Religious Order of Pious Schools", also known as "Scholapius Fathers", dedicated to the education of children of poor parents. José de Calazans, the founder of the Order and today a saint, knew about the sexual abuse against children and tried to "hush up the case". Pope Innocent X appointed Stefano Cherubini, an inveterate pedophile, to head an Order school in Naples. When he learned that he was threatened with dismissal due to the abuse, the pedophile Father Cherubini threatened to destroy the Order by telling everything he knew, that is, he was not the only one. The holy founder of the Escolápio Fathers, José Calazans, wrote to a friend: "cover up this great shame so that it does not reach the knowledge of our superiors".

John Paul II, in his long pontificate, faced his greatest crisis in the case of the sexual abuse scandals of American and European pedophile priests, trying to "hush up the case" as far as he could. It didn't take long for the press around the world to report what was happening within the walls of some, in fact, many, Catholic parishes.

The scandal reached acute proportions in February 2004, when the College of Criminal Justice at John Jay University in New York published a report telling the world that 4% of American clergy, in the second half of the 20th century, had been accused of sexual abuse with minors. This is equivalent to 4 priests who abused around 11 minors in the United States, half of them under the pontificate of John Paul II.

Two years before this bomb fell on Vatican City, the world learned what was happening in the Archdiocese of Boston: Fathers John Geoghan, Shanley and Birmingham were being exposed in the media as pedophiles. The first was convicted by the Boston State Court for having abused more than 130 minors. At that time, the then Cardinal Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, met weekly with John Paul II. In these meetings, he assured the then Pope that less than 1% of Catholic clergy in the United States were "targets" of complaints, which the John Jay University report showed to be a lie.

Cardinal Bernard Law was responsible for the Archdiocese of Boston at this time, a first-class "case-saver"! Law, instead of acting correctly in the case of pedophile priests, handing them over to the police, denouncing them, simply transferred them from parishes and they were thus free to commit more abuse against minors. In 2002, pressured by the press to resign, Law wavered... But John Paul II did not allow him to resign. This only happened when the situation was unsustainable, in 2003. But in 2004, John Paul II presented him as archpriest of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, in Rome, a high position in the Church. Furthermore, and to this day, Cardinal Law, an accomplice in many sexual abuses against minors, is a member of seven congregations and two councils of the Roman Curia.

The Boston Globe, in a scathing article at the time, asked: "Did the Vatican have to choose the same week to inaugurate in a Roman Basilica the main architect of the disaster that had hit them (the parishes of the Archdiocese, 357 of them closed by the new Archbishop of Boston) Let us leave aside the fundamental depravity of rewarding with a luxurious sinecure in the Eternal City a conniver in the serial rape of children. What clearer signal could the Roman Catholic Church send to its faithful that it administers justice on two levels, one. for lay people and another for clergy?"

A quick Google search is enough to find out: around two billion dollars is the amount paid by the Roman Catholic Church to child victims of sexual abuse. In 2007 alone, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles paid 508 victims the equivalent of 1,2 billion reais (660 million dollars). The Diocese of Detroit went bankrupt and last December, the world learned that for 40 long years, the Church covered up child sexual abuse committed by priests in Catholic Ireland. The fact became known through a report of more than 700 pages, covering only the Archdiocese of Dublin, the result of extensive research led by the judge, Dr. Yvonne Murphy. On Christmas Day, 25 December 2009, two Irish bishops, Eamonn Walsh and Raymond Field, resigned over the scandal.

Joaquin Navarro-Valls, numerary of Opus Dei, who for more than twenty years was the Vatican's spokesman in the "John Paul II Era", was the first person in the Catholic Church to publicly link homosexuality and pedophilia. He has always been adamant in telling the press that "gay priests" are responsible for such abuses. Now, we know that’s not true! We know, because serious research on this nefarious topic informs us that the majority of sexual abusers of minors are heterosexual, 75% of them male, who maintain a close and symbolic relationship of power over the victim (fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, uncles , older brothers, priests, evangelical pastors…).

I am sure that there are decent priests in the Catholic Church, sincere and faithful to ordained ministries, true workers and builders of a more egalitarian and just society, including for homosexuals! I have some friends who are Catholic priests and some of them are homosexual. They are loving, serious people who truly live the celibacy imposed by the laws of the Church. I know they also suffer when they hear statements like last week's from Mexico. However, there are no arguments against facts and they are there, clear and clean as mineral water, for everyone to know, once and for all, who the pedophiles really are!

To the representatives of the Church of Mexico and to all those who accuse sincere and decent homosexuals, whose noble desire is to create a family, I say loud and clear: shut up
