In a relaxed chat, this Wednesday night (18) on the interview program 'De Cara', on FM O DIA, the mayor Eduardo Pais denied live that it was gay. The question was asked by a listener who asked when he would come out of the closet.

Paes said that is not homosexual. But if it were, I wouldn't have any problem taking it on.

The mayor condemned homophobia and said that to manage a city like Rio de Janeiro it is necessary to know how to respect other people's choices, differences, religion and sexual orientation.

“Hate and prejudice do not match Rio de Janeiro, which has always been an open city. It's a characteristic of Rio. Some like funk and others like samba”, declared Paes.

On Twitter, a listener wanted to know from the mayor what it means to have a poor soul. Paes cited singer Zeca Pagodinho as someone who fits this profile. “He likes a beer, going to the place in Xerém. I have a poor soul. I like going to Madureira,” he said.

On the other hand, he added that politicians who buy houses in Miami have a rich soul. Asked by columnist Leo Dias about who would be the main opponent of the PMDB candidate in the electoral dispute for mayor of Rio, Pedro Paulo, Paes cited senator Marcelo Crivella (PRB), from the Universal Church.
