Rabbi says parade in Jerusalem is 'shameful' and a threat to the Jewish people

Rabbi Shlomo Amar wants to prevent the gay parade in Jerusalem, scheduled for November 10, because he believes that “Jerusalem and the entire Jewish people are at risk of divine punishment if we allow this event.” Shlomo compared the gay movement to Nebuchadnezzar and Titus, historical figures who destroyed the Temple of Israel, forcing the Jews into exile. “The display of homosexuality is a serious sin, which could be punished by the expulsion of the Jews from the land of Israel.” The Israeli police are on alert for the gay parade, due to rumors that orthodox religious groups will demonstrate against the event. About two years ago, violence and intolerance marked the parade in Jerusalem.
