Regina Duarte, who played a bisexual interested in the character of Bárbara Paz in "Gata Velha Além Mia", said that she thinks there is a trend around LGBT themes in soap operas and films.
"I think these are issues that are in marketing at the moment. This sells, because today there is a larger audience that has already come out of the closet and that, if you look at it statistically, is a consumer audience that needs to be pleased. I don't really like that ", he revealed in an interview with UOL.
"I think things should be more spontaneous. This circus around that I don't like. I think it becomes a fad that caters to a consumer society that will want to sell items, products on top of that", concluded Regina.
She also said that she does not believe that a heartthrob could have his career threatened by coming out as gay, but that everyone has the right to have a private life.
