Regina Duarte says that TV should not exaggerate with gay roles: “It loses credibility”

Regina Duarte talked about the lesbian character she will play in the 18pm soap opera, Sete Vidas, on TV Globo. And according to the actress, she is already in love with the role.

"I'm happy to be returning to television with a character that I love. She's a widow, mother of two children, the result of artificial insemination. She's a woman who lives alone," she said on TV Fama, on Rede TV! .

Despite the character's mourning, the artist let it slip that she must find a new love in the soap opera. And that it can be for a man or a woman. "She is open to love, be it male or female. And something will emerge in her life", she says.

When commenting on the presence of several LGBT roles on television, Regina declared that she is not in favor of exaggeration. "It's normal, but exaggeration is never good. To a certain extent it's very healthy (gay roles), but the moment it becomes exaggeration it loses credibility."
