The new 21pm soap opera premieres today in place of “Amor à Vida”, “Em Família”, written by Manoel Carlos and directed by Jayme Monjardim.
Among what has already been released, it is certain that the character Clara, played by Giovanna Antonelli, will experience a lesbian romance. Another novelty is that the relationship between singer Daniela Mercury and journalist Malu Verçosa will be mentioned in the plot.
"I'm happy to intervene in this way in the soap opera. I'm a person who stood up and had the courage to break this barrier. Mentioning this on television, in a soap opera, has a very important weight", declared Daniela during the launch party of the serial, which took place at the Copacana Palace, in Rio.
The reference to the lesbian couple should happen from chapter 8, in one of Clara's scenes.
"Antonelli is reading a magazine with an article about Daniella Mercury and her wife. Then, she opens up and says 'Santa Daniela, help me' and this is part of this new moment we are living in. Gays are on the front page of the newspaper and consequently they kiss", explained author Manoel Carlos.
