Final stretch of Desperate Housewives

Imagine a group of friends who have been seeing each other for eight years, meeting weekly with a set day and time. That's how I feel about the desperate women series. Now after so long, ABC has announced that this, the eighth, is the last season. And now there are only two more episodes to watch. {warning from here there are spoilers}

When I started watching, in 2004, I didn't think this relationship would be so long-lasting. The characters are fascinating, well constructed, starring four housewives, who at first glance would be completely conventional. Gabi, a model who marries a rich guy, Lynnete gave up her career to raise five children, Suzan was betrayed by her first husband and raises her daughter alone and the most interesting, Bree, a perfectionist woman who gives off the image of having a family perfect.

Everything has happened in the series for so long, there have been murders, mysteries, revenge, a hurricane destroyed everything, a plane crashed right on their street, Wisteria Lane.

All the characters changed a lot, that was the most interesting thing, all their concepts and prejudices were changing.

Gabi had children, discovered that her daughter was changed in the maternity ward, her husband was arrested, she became poor, she became rich, she even gained weight, and of course she got back in shape.

Lynnete returned to being the family's provider, her children took on everything, they had problems with the police, she had problems with her husband and now they separated.

Suzan remarried twice, ran over a woman, the woman's husband tried to get revenge, had a son, her daughter is pregnant, and even almost made a porn film.

Bree was the one who went through the most transformation, her house was destroyed, she married Orson who became paralyzed, she became promiscuous, she had problems with alcoholism.

There were also other good characters, like Bree's gay son, or Eddie, who was a promiscuous and hot woman, or Karen, an old lady, or the gay couple, Boby and Lee, who adopted a child.

In Brazil, there was an attempt to re-record the series in Portuguese on Redetv in 2008. There was even a good team of actresses, such as Lucélia Santos and Isadora Ribeiro. But several characters were American and appeared with voice acting. And of course, it didn't work out, they only recorded the 23 episodes of the first season.

At the beginning of the year, I went to the Universal park in Los Angeles, and to my surprise I passed in the middle of the scenic city where the series is filmed, I almost had a meltdown when I realized it, because it really was unexpected. It was magical to see that city, everything was so perfect and as grand as Hollywood, I still intend to do that tour again.

Now it's going to end, there are two chapters left, Mike died, and Bree is on trial, will she be arrested? Will they find out that Gabi's stepfather was killed by Carlos? Is Lynnete back with Tom? I hope so!

It's unfair, but series are like that, when you like them the most they end. Now I have watched few other series, none with much excitement. Modern Family, Mike & Molly, Two and half men (with Ashton Kutcher is not so cool), The Big Bang Theory and just waiting for the return of The Walking Dead and American Horror History which are the two coolest and most exciting series.
