Actor Reynaldo Gianecchini has always been a heartthrob in soap operas, and has never commented much on his sexuality. Whenever he was asked about being gay, the heartthrob would deny it or evade the answers. But this time he opened up and talked about relationships he had with men.
“Yes, I have had romances with men. But sexuality is much broader.” “I think this is the time to say this. But I never felt obligated to fly the flag of homosexuality. For me, desire does not depend on gender or age”, he revealed to O Globo.
“It took me a while to speak because this always comes up against the extent of prejudice in Brazil. But now it is important to reaffirm freedom, for myself and for those who face repression”, he added.
However, he revealed that he does not consider himself gay. “I recognize all the parts within myself: the man, the woman, the gay, the straight, the bisexual, the child and the old man. Like inside everyone. People are frivolous. They want to fit you in a drawer, and I can’t, because sexuality is the channel of life and my sexuality doesn’t fit in a drawer.”
