Rio de Janeiro will have a public hearing to discuss the increase in homophobia

Next Thursday (20), a hearing will take place to discuss the increase in homophobia in Rio de Janeiro. The meeting will be in the auditorium of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Participating in the hearing, scheduled to begin at 14pm, are victims of homophobic attacks, their families and witnesses, activists from the LGBT movement, human rights groups, representatives of the OAB and the ALERJ Commission to Combat Discrimination and Prejudice. In addition to the increase in violence, the meeting will also discuss bills that favor LGBT people. “It will be a time for us to expose, once again, the need to approve Bill 2054/13. It is important that everyone attends this public hearing to demonstrate our strength”, said Cláudio Nascimento, superintendent of Individual, Collective and Diffuse Rights and coordinator of Rio Sem Homofobia. The auditorium of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) is located on Avenida Dom Manuel, s/n, 6th floor (building attached to Palácio Tiradentes), in Praça XV.
