Romance between two men is the theme of the play “Dois de Paus” from Rio Grande do Sul

The gay theme is increasingly present on Brazilian stages. This time, the theme triggers the show "Dois de Paus", a production from Rio Grande do Sul that premieres in Porto Alegre next Friday, April 1st.

"Two of Clubs" has the tone of a romantic comedy, with a non-linear narrative, focusing on the relationship between two men: Júlio, an advertiser, and Alex, a physiotherapist.

The two decide to live together and begin to face everyday problems, like any couple. Throughout the show, the best – and also the worst – moments of this relationship are shown.

The author of the text, Arthur Tadeu Curado, seeks to demystify concepts and prejudices about homosexuality, discussing the conflicts that occur in any romance, not just in gay love.

"This work is a tool for exchanging ideas, fun and information. For me, relationships are independent of concepts and rules, but they require affinities and shared dreams", says Paulo Guerra, director of the show.

Guerra comments that he faced difficulties in selecting the actors who star in the play. "Many didn't want to do it because of the theme, others didn't have a profile, but I was lucky enough to select Dionatan Rosa and Guilherme Ferrêra. They avoid caricatures, stereotypes and are great actors", he says.
