Rúcula Art Festival is canceled due to LGBTQ+ attraction

Last Tuesday (12), the Rúcula Art Festival event, which was to take place in Jundiaí, at Estádio Doutor Jayme Cintra, was cancelled.

According to the organization, the reason for the cancellation was due to one of the attractions, which is LGBTQ+ and caused discomfort in the management of the Paulista Futebol Clube team, which owns the stadium.

The attraction was “O Baile das Gayrotas”, and the organization issued a note: “We reiterate that this festival absolutely and unquestionably values plurality and multiplicity, disagreeing with this stance. Therefore, out of respect for the artists, the public and others involved, Rúcula refuses to accept this interference in our curation, even if it costs us not to give up the use of the stadium.”

The Paulista Futebol Clube team also issued a statement, despite knowing the negative repercussions, they did not back down.

“We regret the failure to comply with the requests, highlighting that Paulista Futebol Clube is available to everyone who wants to hold events, but as long as they submit to the conditions imposed by the club. We are aware of the manifestations contrary to this decision, which we respect, as well as expressing our unrestricted support for all cultural and behavioral options, without exception”.
