Coming out of the bubble

I love the Brazilian northeast, especially Pernambuco and Bahia. Maybe because it's the states I know the most and where I've been most often, but I still don't know all the states in that region. This weekend I quickly passed through João Pessoa and was impressed by the party that took place there, Paradise. I couldn't form an opinion about the city, I didn't have time to visit beaches and tourist attractions.

It's nothing new that DJs from the Rio-São Paulo axis play all over the country and we also have excellent DJs with promising careers who are from other regions, but it's one thing to read and hear about it and quite another to be present and see with your own eyes, local life and behavior.

The party must have received around 1500 people, in a location in Praia do Jacaré, it was not on the beach, but it was an outdoor party. During the night there was a bit of annoying rain, but it didn't put a damper on the party, the event took place and was packed.

The most curious thing is that the party didn't just bring together people from the capital of Paraíba and neighboring cities, there were people from several cities in Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Norte, neighboring states, but I still found it surprising.

For those from the region this may not be surprising, but for those who live in the São Paulo bubble, it makes you realize that gay nightlife is also established in smaller cities and that today it is no longer necessary to cross Brazil to enjoy good parties, they are all over the country .

But what I took away from this trip is the importance of leaving the bubble that we have built and living comfortably within, it is the need to stop knowing about the world only from the perspective of others and go out into the streets to see – and feel – what is happening. happening and thus not have an edited view.
