São Paulo will have a course on same-sex law next week

A course aimed at legal professionals, participants in public entities and NGOs that work with sexual diversity will be taught in São Paulo next week by Rio Grande do Sul Court of Justice judge Maria Berenice Dias.

The objective of the Homosexual Law course is to train professionals and improve the quality of lawyers who work in this area of ​​Law. The course takes place from November 26th to 29th at the headquarters of Aasp – São Paulo Lawyers Association.

Topics such as the recognition of Homosexual Law by the Judiciary will be discussed during the week of lectures; concepts, legislation and the defense of sexual diversity at administrative headquarters and within the scope of Public Power" and "Constitutional foundations for the adoption and recognition of same-sex unions".

In a note, Maria Berenice explained that jurisprudence in recognizing the rights of homosexual couples has begun to advance and, therefore, the responsibility of those who work in this area is growing. "As more consolidated jurisprudence is achieved, the legislator ends up being 'forced' to regulate," she said. "I hope that with the course, professionals feel empowered to work without prejudice", she added.

Dimitri Sales, master in Constitutional Law and legal advisor at CADS – Coordinator of Sexual Diversity Issues at São Paulo City Hall – will give a lecture at the course on the 27th.
