SBT excludes gay couple from Mexican soap opera

SBT caused controversy by excluding a gay couple from the plot “Que Pobres Tão Ricos”, which has been on air for just over a month.

Written by Rosy Ocampo, whose copyright belongs to Televisa, the plot was originally between November 2013 and June 2014, and one of its main centers was the romance between Diego and Eric.

When shown in Mexico, the same-sex couple caused controversy, and Televisa even stopped a kiss on the lips between the two, which was written and recorded, but was never aired. Even so, Diego and Eric are considered two of the most important characters in the serial.

The cutting of the gay couple by SBT, which has so far not commented on the matter, could harm the entire plot for Brazilian viewers, leaving the story vague and meaningless.
