Rede Globo series has a lesbian character

Although Rede Globo makes an effort, the absence of lesbian characters on Brazilian TV is notable. Meanwhile, two weeks ago, Daisy Coturno (Norma Bengell) from Toma Lá Dá Cá and Eleonora (Mylla Christie) and Jenifer (Bárbara Borges) from the rerun of Senhora do Destino were joined by another lesbian character: Selma (Hermylla Guedes) from Task force.

Task Force is an investigative series that airs on Thursdays after Grande Família. With a cinematic feel, the series follows the day-to-day lives of police officers who investigate misconduct by members of their own corporation.

The team, commanded by Colonel Caetano (Milton Golçalves), is made up of Wilson (Murilo Benício), Irineu (Juliano Cazarre), Oberdan (Henrique Neves), Selma, Genival (Osvaldo Baraúna).

Selma is an open homosexual, partner of the protagonist Wilson and the only woman in the group. To deal with machismo, she loves a tough and authoritarian stance, without leaving humor aside. In the first chapter, for example, when a colleague refers to her as being “a waste”, she removes the rumor that the boy's penis is small.

Now we just have to wait and see if the series will overcome our needs to see ourselves represented on TV. And you? Did you watch any episode of Task Force? What do you think?
