Shopping Metrô Tucuruvi was ordered by the São Paulo court to compensate a lesbian couple, who were prevented by a security guard from giving a peck inside the establishment.
Marjorie and Thamires were walking through the mall and exchanged a kiss. A security guard at the site saw the scene and asked them not to repeat the affection. The two were outraged by his attitude and filed a lawsuit against the mall.
The story ended up gaining momentum after a friend of theirs made a post on Facebook and took on gigantic proportions. The judge in the case gave a favorable opinion and asked the mall to pay compensation.
“In fact, the authors were exposed to a vexatious situation, in public, simply because of their sexual orientation, with the pain, humiliation, frustration and anger they felt being presumed, a situation that goes far beyond mere annoyance.”, reported the judge in the opinion.
