“I feel like I’m there”: After Feliciano, Bolsonaro wants to take over the Human Rights Commission

After Marco Feliciano's (PSC-SP) regrettable command of the Chamber's Human Rights Commission, deputy Jair Bolsonaro (PP-RJ) hopes to achieve the same feat. The parliamentarian is working with the evangelical group to become president of the Commission.

"I am closed with the evangelical bench and I have the support of the leader of my party [Eduardo da Fonte (PE)]. I don't believe that the PT will be interested in the commission. This is the desire of a minority of the PT. They will want something bigger ", declared Bolsonaro.

Contrary to what the deputy thinks, the PT stated that the Commission is one of the Party's priorities, which has the right to preside over three commissions due to the size of the bench. Bolsonaro's PP is entitled to two.

Federal deputy Erika Kokay (PT-DF) told Fórum magazine that the Human Rights nucleus of the Workers' Party reinforced the “need” for the PT to resume the presidency of the commission to avoid a repeat of what happened last year, under Feliciano's presidency.

As for the criticism, Bolsonaro seemed unconcerned and confident about the new opportunity. "I'm not worried about that. I dismiss these criticisms completely. I feel like I already have one foot inside the commission," he declared.

The deputy also said that, if the Human Rights Commission does not side with his party, there are already other names: Pastor Eurico (PSB-PE) and Marcos Rogério (PDT-RO), both allies of Feliciano.
