Skol beats 2008: Justice and Digitalism

Last Saturday Skol Beats 2008 took place. I decided to go, so two duos that I really like would perform: Justice and Digitalism. I hadn't been excited about going to Skol for four years, the last experience was terrible, in 2003, 50 thousand people, little space to move around, the tents were super crowded and you couldn't see anything, nothing at all, you had to stay in the dancing breath door, wow. Even today I believe that the best place for Skol is at the Autódromo: grass, mud and a wide view, that's how you do a rave, but then the conversation is different, in this case, concept. That's for another time.

This year's format radically changed what we know of Skol Beats: there would be just two tents and a main stage for the loudest acts. Unfortunately we missed the Montage show, which took place at 20pm, a terrible time, very early, we still had to put a final touch on our makeup. I've watched Montage's show three times and the boys always rock it, however, those who watched Skol's show said that their new songs stray away from their electro and tend towards funk… Could it be? I sincerely hope not. I will be able to check this fact in their next presentation.

Bueno, at around 22:30 pm he was already waiting for Justice's performance, us and another crowd. With a slight delay the curtain opened and the Cross, the boys' symbol, lit up and the people went wild. And the duo gave no quarter. It was an hour long show (very short by the way) where they modified a good part of the songs we know, for example, Stress, they played excerpts of this song with others, DANCE, the hit that made them famous, was modified a lot and stretched into a version punk. And of course, to close Justice's great success, We are your friend, the audience chorused and clapped along with the French, and what can we say about DIVINO's version? Blow to the brain! But, there was still more.

After Justice, it was a good time to walk around Anhembi and see what was happening around the event and, of course, observe the bodies. Well, in the first part, nothing special, worse, some cheesy and very boring DJs, didn't excite anyone, at least me. The way was to grab a beer and look at people and flirt, at least in this part the bar was fast, with the exception of one close to Tenda Skol, irritating to the extreme!

Up, down, warm up and now it's 2:30 am, run to the stage and get a good seat to see Digitalism, the main attraction of the event alongside Justice and it was worth it. And, at 3am sharp, the German guys arrive on the scene with a killer stage! Their table was a panel with a screen and another screen is behind the boys and it was awesome, the best show of the night. They didn't give them a chance to breathe. It is worth noting the friendliness of vocalist Jens Moelle, with each song performed he said "hey São Paulo", with a typical accent. It will be difficult to forget "Idealistic" live, "Pogo" (one of my favorites), I want I want was also great. I hope they return to Brazil soon.

Well, in a comparison I would say that: Justice surpasses Digitalism in terms of improvisation and creativity in live performances, however, the Germans have a charisma and an energy that is impossible to stay still, the structure of the stage also counts a lot in their favor. , very well thought out. Let's be honest, nowadays this alliance counts a lot: music and performance, in this case the French are very cold, almost blasé. What's more, Digitalism has that aggressive rocker feel, so rare in musical groups today. Anyway, the ticket was worth it for both of us, that alone justified going to Skol Beats 2008.

Look what I've been doing!
