Televisa bans singer Christian Chávez from talking about his homosexuality

Mexican broadcaster Televisa banned singer Christian Chávez, from the group RBD, from publicly commenting on his homosexuality. The veto came after an invitation from the company's own magazine for Christian to give an interview about the discovery of his sexual orientation. The singer was also banned from talking about the subject by the RBD producer. Christian has been under pressure from all sides, including from some family members who are against his coming out of the closet. “If the family had suspected his sexual orientation when he was still a boy, treatment would have prevented his choice. Homosexuality (sic) must be treated from an early age,” said a famous psychiatrist from Mexico. Christian is a member of the Mexican group RBD and one of the protagonists of the teen soap opera “Rebelde”, shown in Brazil on the SBT channel. He revealed his homosexuality in early March. “I think it's time to grow, not just as a human being, but also as an artist,” he explained.
