Thammy Miranda, one of the most famous trans men in Brazil, made his transition publicly, showing the world his journey to find himself and be who he really is.

However, singer and dancer Gretchen's son never changed his baptismal name. Why? Recently, Thammy took advantage of the occasion of Trans Visibility Day and published a video on Instagram explaining why he remained with the name “Thammy”.

“I wanted to change my name. If I wasn't a well-known person, I would have switched. I even tried trying other names, but I ended up making that transition too late. People know me a lot, I don’t know if they would get used to another name.”

“I didn’t get used to another name. I believe my name is a unisex name. Anyway, that’s not what will define whether you’re a man or a woman,” she declared.

Thammy also said that his father, delegate Silva Neto, didn't like the idea of his son changing his name, and that was one of the reasons he kept what he already had.

“That's why I changed: firstly, because I didn't get used to it. Second, because my father didn't want it. Third, because people think they wouldn't get used to it. Fourth, because I didn't want to. Ready."
