The fifth season of "The Voice of Ireland" began this month and a brazilian drag queen has caught the public's attention there.
Drawing the line, if you don't want me, there are those who do, Emmie Reek took the stage in the program shown last Sunday (10) and won a place in the competition singing the song "One and only", from the Adele, in her blind audition.
She is the first drag queen to perform in the history of the Irish version of the reality show, and as soon as teasers of her participation were released, Emmie made headlines in several newspapers in the country. Besides her, only the Brazilian and Portuguese versions of "The Voice" had drag candidates.
Born Emery Augusto, the birth name of the Brazilian behind Emmie, the 27-year-old Rio native, with a degree in Literature, moved to Dublin a year and a half ago to study English and decided to stay there after meeting his fiancé, the Polish Marcin . His relationship with music began at an early age, when he was 11 years old.
Here in Brazil, still like Emery, he had already tried to boost his musical career on the program "Ídolos". "I tried three times and was rejected all three times, in front of the judges."
On the Irish "The Voice" he decided to bet on Emmie Reek and I managed to turn all four chairs. "It all happened so fast, I couldn't believe it was happening. And then my face got funny because I was scared, you know, it's my dream and I've been fighting for it for a long time", he confessed.
