Transsexual denounces Navy for discrimination

Transsexual Érika Fayson Fernandes, 37 years old, reported to the president of the Commission for the Defense of Minorities of the Brazilian Bar Association in Alagoas, Alberto Jorge, the Elite Force of the Marine Corps, of the Rio de Janeiro Navy.

Érika Fayson accuses the Navy of discrimination. She stated that she was a soldier in the Navy, but when they discovered her homosexuality they retired her on permanent disability.

According to Alberto Jorge, the Rio de Janeiro naval force committed an act of discrimination. “For reasons of sexual orientation (sic), the Navy retired Érika due to definitive permanent disability,” he explained.

The transsexual also claims that, in addition to being a victim of discrimination, she is not receiving retirement insurance.

“Since the result of the inspection that resulted in my retirement, I have still not been able to receive my insurance”, says Érika.
