Transsexual Thalia Costa Barboza, 33 years old, was cruelly beaten to death last Thursday, 21st, by then-stay Douglas Gluszszak Rodrigues, 22 years old. The crime took place on the banks of the Uruguay River, in São Borja, on the Western Border of Rio Grande do Sul. According to the delegate responsible for investigations Marcos Ramos Vianna, Rodrigues confessed to the crime which was motivated because, according to him, Thalia was threatening make the relationship between the two public. “The boy claimed that he had been in a relationship with the transsexual for around two weeks and that, in recent days, he had been receiving threats from the victim, who would publish photos of him with her on social media,” said Vianna, in an interview with the UOL portal. Douglas is known in the city for playing for Associação Esportiva São Borja, an association that competes in the second division of the Gaúcho championship. Authorities are treating the case as a qualified homicide, due to the cruel way in which the victim was executed.
