Another transsexual was killed, a victim of transphobia that affects dozens of transgender men and women in Brazil every year. President of an association for the rights of LGBT people in his municipality, Alexandre Brito Pinto, 41 years old, also known as Lili, was murdered on the night of last Sunday 27th, in the city of Cachoeira, in Bahia. According to a police report, Lili was shot by three men in a Honda Civic car, and succumbed to her injuries. The Bahia Gay Group issued a statement stating that it will demand “the authorities speed up the investigation into Lili’s death”. “These crimes cannot go unpunished”, says the president of the NGO, Marcelo Cerqueira. Also according to GGB, Lili was the 25th victim of crimes committed due to intolerance towards LGBTs in the state.
