The State Education Council of Bahia approved last Monday (25), by 18 votes to 4, an opinion that allows transvestites and transsexuals to use their social names within school establishments, on roll calls, bulletins and classrooms. . The information is from the "Estadão" portal.

Employees and teachers will also be able to use their social names instead of their registered names at state universities, as well as elementary and secondary education establishments. Council members recommended that students, from the next enrollment, fill out the forms with their preferred social name.

The opinion does not yet have the force of law, as approval by the state government is still required.
