Entrepreneurs and professionals from the Capital and the region in the social events segment will take part in the first edition of the new Porto Alegre Turística LGBT module, who will be exhibitors at Expo Entre Iguais, a fair for suppliers of products and services aimed at same-sex marriages, which will take place in the Capital, on November 11th, at Mansão Isla, on Ilha das Flores.

Qualification is one of the central focuses of the Porto Alegre LGBT program, officially launched at the end of September, after which Embratur recognized the capital of Rio Grande do Sul as the 7th gay-friendly tourist destination from the country. The companies that carry out the training also undertake to ensure that LGBT tourists are welcomed into their establishment and to disseminate this policy to their employees, from managers to workers who work on the front line in serving the public.

This commitment by companies will be formalized with the signing of a "Letter of Commitment". This is not SMTUR's first initiative to raise awareness and qualify companies and professionals in the tourist reception and other sectors to meet the main objective of the Porto Alegre LGBT program of increasing the flow of tourists in this segment in Porto Alegre.

In July there was a seminar with a lecture by the Brazilian Association of Tourism for Gays, Lesbians e supporters (ABRAT GLS) to raise trade awareness about the potential of LGBT tourism in the country and the world, which also attracted companies from the interior of the State.

At the beginning of September, two days of workshops were held with consultants from the same entity and aimed at managers and coordinators of hotel, bar and restaurant teams. With the formatting of its own module of the Social School of Tourism, the objective of SMTUR is to achieve a greater scope in the qualification of the city's services for the good service to the LGBT public.
