A kiss between two women in the Australian soap opera Home and Away will be censored in the episode that airs this Tuesday (31) on Australian TV. Broadcaster Seven Network decided to cut the scene after receiving numerous complaints from conservative and Christian groups.
Sources from The Australian newspaper claim that the scene in which actresses Esther Anderson and Katie Bell kiss, after dancing on a boat, was no more intimate than a kiss between heterosexual couples that are televised in droves.
Australian commentator David Knox stated that unfortunately, in 2009, a kiss is considered more threatening to family values than serial killers and kidnappers, common characters in Australian TV serials.
