A picture is worth a thousand words

A photo showing a gay couple injured in a protest in Budapest, Hungary, has just won an important prize in the 51st edition of the World Press Photo Contest.

Candidates could submit their work in various categories, and this time the competition organizers received more than 80.536 entries from all over the world.

The photo on the side was taken by Zsolt Szigetvary and came second in the “Contemporary Issues” category.

The award for best photo of the year went to Englishman Tim Hetherington, with the image published in the magazine Vanity Fair which shows an American soldier resting in a bunker in Afghanistan.
