Kennesaw State University, in the state of Georgia, USA, fired a non-binary person from the staff of an in-house bookstore. The reason, claims Stuart Morrison, is that he wore lipstick to express who he is. The information is from Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Fired earlier this month, Morrison, 30, told the newspaper that by wearing lipstick, he violated the institution's appearance policy. He was told by the administration that he should change the color of his lipstick – Morrison uses black, light blue or green, colors that the university considers “unprofessional.” He was told to wear “light-colored” lipstick, but he didn’t.

Kennesaw informed him that the firing was due to other alleged missteps by Morrison, such as forgetting to wear a badge and frequently needing time off work. He refuted the statement by claiming that he has psychiatric problems, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, which impairs his memory.

“Getting fired is not fun in general, but I felt like it was discriminatory. The fact that they chose to use that excuse seems to me to be wrong,” he told Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
