The II National March against Homophobia took place this Wednesday afternoon (18), in Brasília. The event began around 9 am and, at 10:30 am, it already brought together more than two thousand participants who occupied the Esplanada dos Ministérios. The march ended at 13 pm, with activists promoting a collective hug around the Federal Supreme Court (STF). The organization declared that five thousand people participated in the demonstration.

Unlike last year's march, this year practically all political parties participated, from right to left, which means, according to some activists, greater support from parties to the LGBT cause.

In addition to senator Marta Suplicy (PT-SP), those who participated in the event were federal deputy Chico Alencar (PSOL-RJ). In his speech, the parliamentarian said that the march organized by pastor Silas Malafaia against the criminalization of homophobia, which will take place next week, "will be gray and closed". For Alencar, the LGBT march is “open, colorful and integral”.

At the end of the journey, Angélica Ivo, mother of Alexandre, murdered due to homophobia at the age of 14, spoke and thanked the space given by the movement and said that, even with the arrest of her son's killers, her struggle and pain will not end.

After occupying the Esplanada, the activists headed to the STF and held an emotional collective hug, thanking the ministers for approving stable unions for homosexual couples. Finally, the national anthem was sung by everyone present.
