São Paulo councilors debate veto on Heterosexual Pride Day today

PSDB and PT councilors are holding a meeting today, Tuesday (9), to discuss veto strategies for the Bill establishing Heterosexual Pride Day in the city of São Paulo, authored by councilor Carlos Apolinário (DEM-SP ) It is which was approved last week.

Parliamentarians have two options: coordinate with Mayor Gilberto Kassab (PSD) to veto the PL, or, neither veto nor sanction it and send it back to the City Council for automatic sanction. After all, the Chamber cannot veto a project that it itself approved. What councilors can do is present another Bill for repeal. 

The meeting starts at 18pm at São Paulo City Hall, in Sala Tiradentes. Entry is free for anyone who wants to participate.

The approval of Heterosexual Pride Day became news in the international press. Media outlets such as "Forbes", "Newsday" and the gay magazine "Advocate" highlighted the creation of "Straight Pride Day" on their websites. The topic was also one of the most talked about on Twitter, reaching first place in the ranking of most mentioned topics.
