“You are discriminating against LGBT people”, says Ellen Page, US presidential candidate

During the recording of her documentary Gaycation, the actress Ellen Page went to interview Ted Cruz, conservative politician and US presidential candidate. And didn't the artist end up arguing with him about LGBTphobia?

Filmed by ABC News, Ted claimed that he doesn't think it's prejudice when an LGBT person is fired because they are LGBT. For him, it is just a religious issue.

“What about LGBT people who are being fired for being gay or trans?” asks Ellen. But the politician turns the question around and answers something else: "Well, what we're seeing now are Bible-believing Christians who are being persecuted for living in accordance with their faith."

Ellen responds: "You are discriminating against LGBT people. Is this the same argument you have about the segregation of LGBT people in the job market?" The politician says he doesn't want to start a debate, but says it's important not to force anyone to abandon their faith.

In addition to not responding about LGBT discrimination in the job market, Ted makes a comparison that is surreal to say the least – again contrary to what usually happens: "Imagine, hypothetically, that you had a gay florist and imagine that two evangelicals want to get married and the florist says 'You know what, I don't agree with your faith, and I don't want to provide flowers'.
