“You’re right, I’m the wrong choice”, says Daniel Radcliffe about Freddie Mercury’s role

Well, we were suspicious of rumors that the former Harry Potter wizard, Daniel Radcliffe, would venture to play the leader of the band Queen, Freddie Mercury.

It all started after Sacha Baron, who played a homosexual in the film Brüno, was removed from the role because he wanted to spice up the production's script, which did not want to tell spicy facts about the singer's life. Therefore, days later, Radcliffe's name emerged as a replacement.

Many people were surprised by the choice of actor for the role, even himself. "Everyone who said I would be a completely wrong choice for the role is right. I'm the wrong choice to play Freddie Mercury," Radcliffe told the Empire Podcast website.

"If there were any rumors about playing Iggy Pop I would even think: 'Look, I could do that, it would be interesting'. But Freddie Mercury? No", he added.

The actor also said that he and his Harry Potter co-star, Emma Watson, are almost always the target of similar rumors like this. "This is the kind of thing that happens to me and Emma, who was mentioned as a possible interpreter for the character Anastasia in the film Fifty Shades of Grey," he recalled.

The actor is currently promoting the film "Kill Your Darlings", in which he plays homosexual beat poet Allen Ginsberg.
