Proud of his cousin, the commander of Jornal Nacional expressed his affection for Bonemer in the comments on the artist's Instagram: “Megablaster proud of this cousin's talent, integrity and simplicity”, wrote Bonner. In an interview with the newspaper Extra, Hugo put the furor surrounding his sexuality into perspective and said his attitude was “simple”.
