X-Men move to San Francisco, gay capital of the United States

In the new phase of the magazine 'Uncanny X-Men', Marvel's mutants will leave the Xavier Mansion, in Salem Center (NY) and start living in San Francisco.

Known as the North American gay capital, the city is "the only one capable of accepting mutants the way they are", said Axel Alonso, Marvel editor, during a panel titled Gays in Comics.

Alonso also said that "by taking them to San Francisco, they will have more freedom to deal with issues of sexuality, which have always been present in the X-men."

Among the best-known gay characters is the villain Mystique, considered bisexual.
