Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Britney Spears e até Justin Bieber ficaram pra trás. A cantora Katy Perry foi a mais indicada ao Video Music Awards 2011 (VMA), com quatro clipes diferentes em nove categorias.
O destaque vai para "Firework", que disputa o prêmio Clipe do Ano com “Rolling in the Deep”, de Adele, “Make Some Noise”, dos Beastie Boys, “Grenade” de Bruno Mars, entre outros.
Aliás, a cantora Adele está em sete categorias só com “Rolling in the Deep”. Em compensação, Rihanna, que lançou cinco vídeos no último ano, ficou de fora, aparecendo apenas em categorias técnicas. Em sua página no Twitter, a cantora ironizou sua ausência. “É por que sou negra”, escreveu em resposta a um fã.
A cantora Britney Spears concorre em duas categorias. Entre elas, a de Melhor Coreografia, que possivelmente ficará com Beyoncé, em "Run the World (Girls)", que disputa três prêmios assim como Lady Gaga.
