Party Monsters

Party Monster is an outdoor party in the Sorocaba region. The 6th edition takes place in March, and the organizers are already preparing a place with everything a good party needs.

The party atmosphere is reminiscent of a rave with slightly smaller dimensions, but with tents, lots of music and space to play! The audience is essentially LGBT, which makes the party another option for the region.

Ana Carolina Ramos is part of the party's organization and told Dykerama.com how it all started and what the next edition will be like on March 28th.

Dykerama.com – How did the idea for the party come about? How often does it happen?
Ana Carolina – The event began without much pretension, with two small celebrations: a birthday and a farewell party. Among the guests, 80 names of close friends and colleagues were listed. It was, in fact, an intimate party! The party, which took place on March 18, 2006, was called an open bar and invitations were sold at really tempting prices for the style of the party. As the guests arrived, it was noticed that there were a reasonable number of people wanting to buy the invitation on the spot and participate in the party. And so, impromptu, the invitation was sold at the entrance. To the surprise of the organizers, the event had more than 250 people who arrived at the party through word of mouth from the guests. Currently there are two editions per year.

Dykerama.com – Who is the public that usually attends Party Monster? What kind of sound does it make?
Ana Carolina – The party is for people over 18 years old. The regulars are influential people from the liveliest clubs and modern young people without taboos who are looking for fun and information. 70% of Party's audience is GLS. Our goal is to please the public in the best way possible: rock, pop, indie, tribal, house, electro, psy. To this end, in the 6th edition, we will have 2 environments: a rock, pop and indie tent and another for tribal, house, electro and psy.

Dykerama.com – How do you see the clubs and parties, mainly aimed at the LGBT public, in the interior of São Paulo? What makes your party different from others?
Ana Carolina – Parties and clubs for the LGBT public in the interior take place mainly in nightclubs with drag shows. They are only released to the local public, while Party Monster advertises in several cities in the region and with each edition the number of people who participate grows. Furthermore, the Party prioritizes sound, the open air environment and the open bar. We always focus on service: from the cleaning lady to ourselves. We didn't stay hidden during the party, but with all the desire to resolve issues of structure, security and scenery together with the hired staff.

Dykerama.com – Tell us a little about the other editions of the party.
Ana Carolina – We follow the same line in all editions: open air, open bar with various types of drinks, lots of music for 10 to 12 hours.

Dykerama.com – Is there a favorite edition? Or any remarkable or funny stories about any of them?
Ana Carolina – All editions are special, but the 5th edition had a great structural production and was a symbol of social responsibility. The party became part of the Food Campaign Project and collected, on the day of the event, 750 liters of milk from guests from Sorocaba and the region.

Dykerama.com – What are your expectations regarding the party? Do you plan to expand the party to other locations? What is the secret to success?
Ana Carolina – We hope to grow with each edition! The public in the Sorocaba region is increasing more and more and the secret is to believe in what you do. Anything you do believing, you don't get tired and you can't stop until it's done. We have faith, patience, tolerance, persistence, luck and we know what the public really wants.

Dykerama.com – The sixth edition of Party Monster takes place in March. What can we expect from the next party?
Ana Carolina – The 6th edition of Party Monster will come with many surprises. There will be two tents and, for the first time, a rock band called Vilania. The pick-ups include DJ Talitha, DJ Robby, DJ Billy Medeiros, Dj Anderson Lima, Dj Magôo, DJ Clau Marques and the official DJs from radio 103 FM, Madú, Elmo, Fix and Anderson Santos. Guests will be welcomed by drag hostess Lorelay and Fernanda Arruda's team will liven up the party with a juggling and pyrophagy show. We have a team of trained security guards and complete infrastructure for an unforgettable night: sound, lighting, big screen, parking, chemical bathrooms and two bars that will serve 7 types of drinks throughout the night. We continue with the Social Responsibility Project. 1 liter of milk will be collected from each guest, which we will deliver to two Social Solidarity Fund institutions.
