The Presets – Pacifica

The Presets announce their long-awaited return with their new album, Pacifica, to be released on September 14th on the Modular Records label. The album was produced by the band themselves (Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes) and mixed in Los Angeles by Tony Hoffer.

"Youth In Trouble" was the first single, with a music video directed by Yoshi Sodeoka, famous for his pixelated images. "Ghosts" is the second single, with a black and white music video, directed by Abteen Bagheri.

The "Deluxe" edition of the album comes in three formats, CD, vinyl and MP3 download. Inside you will find a hardcover book, with a numbered design and signed by the band. Pre-order available on the official website.

Julian Hamilton (vocals and keyboards) and Kim Moyes (drums and keyboards) met in 1995 at the Sydney Conservatory of Music, where they were both studying classical music. They shared an interest in music so much that they were members of the band "Prop". They released two albums, "Small Craft, Rough Sea" in 2001 and "Cook Cut Damage Destroy" in 2003. Hamilton and Moyes left the band when they remixed the track "Highway Magnetic", under the name The Presets.

They formed The Presets in 2003, with Hamilton on vocals, keyboards and production, and Moyes on drums, keyboards, production and programming. The band recorded a demo, which caught the attention of the Modular label, they signed with the label and released the EP "Blow Up" in 2004. Daniel Johns (Silverchair), played guitar and co-wrote the track "Cookie", with the duo. The EP was compared to the work of Depeche Mode and Soft Cell.

In 2005 they released "Beams", their debut album. Daniel Johns participated once again, on the tracks "Bad Up Your Betterness" and "Beams". The album's artwork was done by Jonathan Zawada. "Girl and the Sea" was the first single, playing on the TV series, The OC "Are You The One?" was the second single.

"Apocalypso" was the second album, released in 2008. With six singles released, "My People", "This Boys in Love", "Talk Like That", "Yippiyo-Ay", "If I Know You" and "Kicking and Screaming", the album won many awards, including being listed in the book "Australia's 100 Best Albums", placing The Presets at the top of the charts. Jonathan Zawada (who worked on all three albums) contributed the design.

The "Deluxe" edition features remixes and a new track, "Buzz Factory". With great success, they remixed tracks for Lenny Kravitz (Breathe), King of Leon (Closer), Midnight Juggernauts (Devil Within) and Silverchair (Straight Lines). They go on tour on September 29th, to promote the album Pacifica, throughout Australia.
